ECH 2005

Historically, the first European para hockey championships took place in the Czech Republic. And it could not be hosted by any other city than Zlín. It was here that the very first, then still sledge domestic hockey matches, were played.

The Czech national team took fourth place at the domestic championships. The winners of the 2005 European Championships in sledge hockey in Zlín were the team from Germany. The Swedes took the silver medal, bronze went to Estonia. The teams of England and Italy finished behind the Czech national team.

Already during the next European sledge hockey Championships, the Czech national team celebrated its first great success! During the 2007 European Championships in Italy, under the coaching of Tomáš Zelenka and František Kovář, the team won silver medal.
