The World Para Hockey Championships are once again returning to Ostrava!

Eight of the world’s best para hockey teams will be competing for the world champions title once again on the ice in Ostrava! The upcoming Ostrava 2021 World Para Hockey Championships is also a qualifying tournament for the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games and thus promises an unforgettable, exciting spectacle. For the first time in history, the World Championships will be held at the same venue twice in a row. “I believe that we will be able to prepare a well-organized tournament, which is actually returning to Ostrava for the third time in total. And I am glad that Ostrava, and therefore the Czech Republic, was once again trusted to organize a tournament for the elite world para hockey teams, “said Jiří Šindler on behalf of the organizers of the championships. “It will be another opportunity for people around the world to learn more about the athletes and teams as we approach the next Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing,” said Michelle Laflamme, manager of the International Paralympic Committee.

Slovakia and Russia a part of the elite world group

Spectators may also be intrigued by the dramatic and interesting moments that the Slovak hockey team may present at the championships as the team is entering the elite world group for the first time. “Despite the current, difficult situation, we are in a positive mood and are meeting expectations, because it will be our first world championships among the elite group,” said the manager of the Slovak para hockey team Miroslav Dráb. The Slovak national team is also currently struggling with the fact that it cannot train to its full potential. All teams of the elite world group lack match preparation on the international field. “The mood in our team is still good and we are all looking forward to Ostrava,” added Dráb.   All news from the preparations for the Ostrava 2021 Para Hockey World Championships can be found on the www.parahockey.czwebsite and on social networks @parahockey.cz.
