Preparations for the International Para Hockey Cup (IPH Cup) at the RT Torax Arena in Ostrava continues even with the given difficult emergency conditions. The organizers had to change the schedule of matches, due to the decision of the overseas teams to not travel to Europe at the last minute, given the poor epidemiological situation. Nonetheless, the Czech para hockey team will still compete in a series of international matches with the Russian team.
The para hockey players of the Czech Republic and Russia will play five intense matches from the 12th to the 18th of December. The IPH Cup is an important part of the Paralympic training of both teams. “We tried to keep the tournament in high quality for both the fans and especially for the players themselves. We are glad that we can offer everyone quality facilities and very intense matches and the world’s best para hockey, “said Irena Šašková on behalf of the organizers of the IPH Cup. “We will of course be grateful for every fan in the stands, however, for such a team, especially for our young players, every good match is important. These are valuable experiences before the Paralympic peak of this season, “added the coach of the Czech para hockey team Jiří Bříza.
The first match will be played this Sunday at 15:00. Tickets that fans have already purchased remain valid for any match in the entire timeline of the International Para Hockey Cup. The capacity of the stadium is limited to a thousand visitors due to government measures. All matches will also be live on the parahockey.cz website.
